Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Quest (the "Service"), operated by [Quest Legal Entity Name] ("Quest," "we," "us"). By creating a profile, listing a property, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

1. What Quest is — and isn't

Quest matches residents looking for housing with hosts and landlords with rooms or properties available, based on stated budget, location, and lifestyle compatibility. Quest is not a real estate broker, property manager, landlord, or tenant screening service. We don't own, manage, or inspect any property listed on Quest, and we don't guarantee the accuracy of anything a user states about themselves or their property. Any agreement to rent, sublet, or share a home is strictly between the individuals involved — Quest is not a party to it.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old to use Quest. You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you submit and for keeping your sign-in access secure. Sign-in is passwordless (email magic link or Google) — you're responsible for anything that happens through your account.

3. Fair housing — this matters

Quest is built around a specific rule: information a resident or host shares about protected characteristics (gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability/recovery status, familial status, national origin, and similar) is only ever usable as something a resident requires of a host — never as a filter a host or landlord applies to screen an applicant. If you're a host or landlord, you're independently responsible for complying with the Fair Housing Act and all applicable state and local housing laws in how you actually select a tenant. Quest's matching scores are a starting point for a conversation, not a determination of who you may legally house.

4. Fees, payments, and refunds

Some actions on Quest require payment (for example, a host unlocking a matched resident's contact information) — current prices are shown before you pay. All payments are processed by Stripe; Quest never receives or stores your card number.

Refunds: because unlocking a match delivers the information immediately, unlock fees are generally non-refundable once the information has been revealed to you. If you were charged in error — a duplicate charge, a charge that didn't actually unlock anything due to a technical failure on our end, or similar — contact us at [support@quest.surf] within 14 days and we'll review it. We reserve the right to change pricing going forward; changes won't apply to payments you've already made.

5. Identity verification

Quest offers optional identity verification through Stripe Identity. If you choose to verify, you're submitting a government ID and a selfie directly to Stripe, not to Quest — we only ever receive and store the verification result (verified, pending, failed), never the document image or ID number itself.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Post a fake listing or fake profile, or misrepresent who you are
• Use Quest to screen or exclude anyone based on a protected characteristic
• Scrape, automate, or bulk-collect data from the Service
• Attempt to bypass or defeat bot-protection or identity-verification measures
• Use in-app messaging to harass, spam, or solicit unrelated business
• Use another person's identity or payment method without authorization

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, at our discretion.

7. No warranty; limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is." Quest doesn't guarantee that any match will result in a successful housing arrangement, that listed information is accurate, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Quest and its officers, employees, and affiliates aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, or for the conduct of any other user, host, or resident — online or in person. Nothing in these Terms limits liability where the law doesn't allow it.

8. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll update the "Last updated" date above; continuing to use Quest after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

9. Governing law
